festival style guide

April 1, 2017

Festival season is here, and for those of you easing out of winter, just the sheer excitement of sliding into a summer dress or silk blouse is enough to justify the crowds of a music festival. As a 10 year Coachella veteran, I’ve decided to put together a tried and tested style guide for my wardrobe essentials for the festival – that is, without the fringe and the flower crown.

1. The Slip

It’s light weight, breathable and fuss free. It’s perfect for lounging poolside during the day and great for layering under a cardigan in the evening.
2. The Lace Up
A lace up dress is styled without going overboard. Instead of opting for festival cliches like fringe or patterned prints, a lace up adds a cool contrast to the festival foreground.

3. Key Accessories

Accessorizing with minimal but impactful pieces like a straw hat, pair of sunglasses and dainty jewelry in the desert is all you need to dress up your look.

4. The Mules

Aside from a well-loved pair of sneakers, an elevated but comfortable mule fares better for your feet than being flat footed in sandals, especially when you’re trekking through miles of dust and sand.

5. Statement Swim
My favorite suits are ones that are easy to transition from poolside to daywear, and my friend Marysia has perfected this craft to an art form with her namesake label.

Below are some of my favorite spring arrivals in dusty desert tones:

Jacquemus Pintucked Cotton Dress -$525
Robert Clergie Raffia Wedges -$270
Isabel Marant Earrings -$219
Little Doe Panama Hat -$195
Matteau The Square Swimsuit -$213
Oliver Peoples Oval Sunglasses – $420
Rachel Comey Fonda Ankle Wrap -$427
Isabel Marant Hayo Ruffled Top -$345
Loewe Raffia Tote Bag -$3150
Little Doe Kew Panama Hat -$275
Robert Clergerie Lato Slide Sandal -$495

In the beauty department, the key is to stay hydrated and keep your skin moisturized. Here are a few of my favorite products that ensures your skin will stay dewey through a weekend of debauchery.
