Lusting over leather in this head to toe look. I am wearing my favorite pieces from French labels from this season, namely a Dior leather beret, a plush royal blue cashmere turtleneck by the French label Roseanna, a leather mini-skirt, a 13 Bonaparte men's denim jacket scaled to size, the Chanel Gabrielle bag chain bag and the ultimate patent leather boots by Dorateymur Side Pierced boots. This look was my homage to classic French style with a motorcycle twist. There's a timeless edge about styling a winter beret paired with stockings and boots. The denim jacket is my favorite new purchase from the men's brand 13 Bonaparte, which has recently expanded into womenswear without altering the shape of the pieces to authentically give the "borrowed from the boys" look.
We shot these images while on a coffee run in the Arts District of Los Angeles, my favorite neighborhood in the city due to its emerging gallery scene and industrial landscape. We weaved through an alleyway that made the picture-perfect backdrop for the black-on-black ensemble, vintage cars on site and all. The weather is still cooling down in Los Angeles which makes a denim jacket the perfect outerwear for days like this.
I am heading out to Paris in a few weeks and can't wait to bring out these classic pieces to wear against the cobblestone streets of the 1st Arrondissment. From the classic bright blue turtleneck, shiny patent leather boots and the iconic beret, I may even live out the classic cliche of a true American tourist and shoot against the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower. Cliches are after all tried and true trends that retain their virtues for its timelessness.
