the travel shelfie

September 28, 2015

It has always been my dream to be able to travel for a living, and over the past few years, I’ve worked hard to make it become a reality. But with that reality comes a set of new rules and responsibilities, and today it’s regarding what happens in the skin department. Coming from someone who struggled with breakouts my entire life – it took great lengths to achieve achieve the far-flung fantasy of clear, smooth skin. I’ve tried and tested every product at the pharmacy, and prescription medicine didn’t help one bit either. I only began experiencing results when I started using a proactive skin care regiment. As my life becomes increasingly on-the-go, a night out nor the  LA to London flight are things I no longer want to wear on my face. Luckily, I’ve learned to combat it with these products below.

Nars Multi-Action Hydrating Toner-Since planes are aggregators of dry skin, finding a toner that keeps my face feeling moisturized (while cleansing) is a god send. This Nars Hydrating toner is great for cleaning without drying.
Dr. Jart Trans-Foam Clay Mask-Cleaning is key after a long flight, and this is one of my favorite masks to use after deplaning. The foam clay mask helps detoxify my skin and strips it from city and recycled air pollution.
Skin Inc Chlorella Serum Revitalize-I love Skin INC’s brand ethos, and their products are truly designed for a woman on the go. The products are customized for your individual needs, with the option of combining to create an all-in-one serum. This is one of the serums I love that upon application, absorbs straight into my skin.
Kate Somerville Exfolikate-My last trip for a facial taught me that skin care is pointless if you’re not exfoliating your face at least twice a week, since product builds up and blocks your pores. Kate Somerville’s ‘Exfolikate’ is the best in the business and its tiny little microbeads cleans beyond what your eyes can see.
La Mer Moisturizing Cream-I always start and end the day with a moisturizing cream, and La Mer being a bit higher on the price point scale is appointed to my night cream. I always wake up with brighter, softer skin.
Grown Alchemist Hand Cream-A great hand cream with a soft scent. This one blends seamlessly into the skin and doesn’t leave a strange residue.
Glossier Moisturizing Moon Mask-One of my favorite moisturizing masks of all time that’s super hydrating and non-greasy. However the moisturizing mask doesn’t clean or purify the skin – it’s a great follow up to the clay mask.
